CROSSING BORDERS 2011

CROSSING BORDERS 2011 – THE EURASIA-PACIFIC DOCUMENTARY DEVELOPMENT, TRAINING & NETWORKING PROGRAMME
FINAS together with Documentary Campus (Germany), EDN – European Documentary Network and European Union’s MEDIA Mundus programme are proud to present CROSSING BORDERS 2011 – THE EURASIA-PACIFIC DOCUMENTARY DEVELOPMENT, TRAINING & NETWORKING PROGRAMME.

This is the final part of the 3-part workshop of CROSSING BORDERS with 3 industry experts in this session.  Participants will go through Project Presentation & Pitching Training; Final Pitch Session to 13 International Commissioning Editors; and Meet The Broadcasters Sessions.

The first workshop of the programme took place in July 2011 with a project development workshop with 6 industry experts in Cyberjaya, Malaysia.  And the second, again with 6 industry experts in October 2011 in Leipzig, Germany parallel to the Final Pitching Session of the European Documentary Campus Masterschool and the 54th International Leipzig Festival for Documentary and Animated Film.

Crossing Borders - The Eurasia-Pacific Documentary Development, Training & Networking Programme is a new international documentary development programme launched in 2010 by Documentary Campus and the EDN - two highly distinguished and respected non-profit organizations in Europe.

It brings together filmmakers and documentary experts from both Europe and Asia, who are highly motivated to collaborate with each other across national borders, and have the ambition to enter each others markets both artistically and financially.

Through one-to-one access to recognized professionals and trainers from around the world, the programme offers creative and practical support for every phase in the development of a project for the international market.

The aim is to create an invaluable network between Europe and Asia and to furnish the Crossing Borders participants with the necessary knowledge and contacts for their future work on an international level. Five places specially reserved for filmmakers from the host country Malaysia.

Crossing Borders is modeled after Documentary Campus’ highly successful European Masterschool and EDN’s distinguished workshops. Up to 70% of all Masterschool films are completed and many of them won awards at festivals around the globe. In 2009 and 2010, two films developed at the Masterschool were among the Emmy and Oscar nominees! The European Masterschool has proven to be of vital importance to the careers of many filmmakers in the past 10 years, therefore both Documentary Campus and EDN are confident that Crossing Borders will follow suit.
