Though Usher was not photographed his stepson Kile Glover's funeral in July, he insisted on Sunday's episode of Oprah's Next Chapter that he was indeed present: "It hurts me to hear people speculating that I wasn't at the funeral. I absolutely was at the funeral. I was at the burial as well."
"I miss Kile," Usher told Winfrey of his late stepson, who died after a tragic jetski accident on Georgia's Lake Lanier. "We cooked together, we laughed, we sang. He loved to sing and dance. He loved to tell jokes."
The performer also addressed his tumultuous relationship with Kile's mother, Tameka, the mother of his two sons. He admitted that they'll probably never be close, despite his desire to keep things civil for the sake of their two sons.
"The friend that I was to Tameka, I don't know that I ever could be again, because I really felt like we were friends. She made us enemies in a way that I could never understand. It wasn't until I was on the stand, where I cried, when I realized, 'Oh, this is an attack.'"
The fact that he had assignations with other woman during their marriage — including a fling with one of Tameka's bridesmaids, which Usher acknowledged — might have something to do with the bad blood.
On a happier note, Usher listens to his own boner jams to, uh, get into the mood: "Some say this may be rather narcissistic, but, um, yeah. I'm a good motivator for the moment."
