Last week was amazing… I know I normally use that word for everything that’s really exciting but I’ve gotta say it again cuz it’s true! David Archuleta Week on FLYfm’s Must Have Music was amazing because you, The ArchAngels made it so for both Hafiz and me!

Going into Archuleta week, I can honestly say I knew nothing about this dude other than the fact that he was the Idol Runner Up in American Idol Season 7 and that he kept receiving “Nutter Butter” candy in the mail just cause once during an interview he said that he liked “Nutter Butter” candy! Other than these few useless facts, I knew nuts about him!

And at the end of Archuleta Week, here’s what I learnt about this young 17 year old…

He can really sing well!
He can really really really really really really really really really sing well!
He’s debut album is coming out in Mid-November this year.
He doesn’t care whether his fans refer to him as Archie.
He has a ‘YouTube’ channel that he records video blogs on and he has a myspace page where you can ask him questions that he will definitely answer during his video recording.
He had Vocal Paralysis that required surgery but he didn’t go for it cuz he wanted to sing and he loves to sing! So for him the risk wasn’t worth it!
He was a technician at the Marine Park Amphitheatre. He didn’t want to quit his job and go for the AI auditions cuz he didn’t know how far he could get.
He DOESN’T have a girlfriend and says that he’s too young for one, instead he would rather focus on his music for now!
He was the Junior Vocal Champion on Star Search 2 when he was 12 years old.
He sang to the American Idol Season 1 finalists including Season 1 Winner Kelly Clarkson when he got to meet the finalists in Hollywood.

Man, I could go on and on and on… but I’m sure if you’re a David Archuleta fan, you’ll probably be going… “you mean you didn’t know all this?”… but if you aren’t, thanks to a bunch of the Arch Angels, Hafiz and I were able to put together this entire list of links where you can find out more about David Archuleta. Oh… one more important lesson learnt… just cause you’re a guy doesn’t mean you can’t appreciate good music like what we get out of David Archuleta! (Ain’t that right John?)

Ar-chooOo-leta!

I was on Basil’s shift when my eyes were opened to the world of David Archuleta. Before the Archuleta week commenced, all I know about ‘Archie’ was that he’s second to David Cook in the last American Idol. It surprised me at first why these Archangels are madly in love with David Archuleta.

The week educated me why listeners/viewers of all ages would have Archuleta as their idol rather than Cook. It’s the way Archuleta speaks with full humility and you get only positive vibe from the man. A caller, John, told me that Archuleta got him to listen to radio again. John complained that radio was full of repetitive music which doesn’t touch the soul. In came Archuleta and all that changed. John is now a Fly listener.

And all of us from FLY, appreciate John’s gesture and thank David aka Cabbage-Boy-who-loves-running-for-its-endorphins for making our station the hub for Archuleta fans to listen to. Hail for the boy who will change the world:
