Fly’s AM Mayhem had an exclusive interview with Dan Stevens for his recent role in the movie ‘Eurovision Song Contest: The Story of Fire Saga‘!

Watch Dan reveal his Russian accent in the interview down below:

The accent is uncanny!

Eurovision Song Contest: The Story of Fire Saga, talks about two small-town singers Lars (Will Ferrell) and Sigrit (Rachel McAdams) who chase their pop star dreams at a global music competition, where scheming rivals, high stakes and onstage mishaps test their bond.

Alexander Lemtov, Dan Stevens character is one of the many rivals in the show. An outlandish Russian singer, who seems to have a ‘Eurovision’ win in the bag, but there’s a lot more going on under the surface of his story, as ‘Mother Russia’ has only allowed him the level of freedom and success he’s achieved so far at the cost of hiding his true identity.

The movie is now out on Netflix!

Dan expressed to Fly’s AM Mayhem that it was an incredible time working on the movie alongside amazing actors and how growing up in Europe Eurovison the competition was a huge deal. It was a great proposition indeed!

” It was a lot of fun! It was such a great proposition to do a musical comedy with Will Ferrell, set at the Eurovison song contest! I don’t know if you guys are familiar with it in Malaysia but growing up in Europe you know it’s a huge thing and it was amazing to me that somebody was going to do a comedy set there and just so much fun. And such a ridiculous character Alexander Lemtov!”

He also shared how he practiced his very thick accent and channeling the inner Russian in him!

“A lot of YouTube research got a couple of Russians friends to help out! And just a bit of imagination really, and a blend of a few Russians I’ve met in the past who you know have particular attitudes. I think there’s something about that kind of mysteriously, wealthy Russian that’s always funny and somebody who has that amount of ridiculous wealth just seize the world in a particular world that’s very different to say an innocent girl from Iceland and throwing them together makes for some pretty fun scenes.”

And to top it off the show just released their soundtrack that features one of our favourite cast member Demi Lovato!
