Let the kids be kids, and the adults reminisce their time as kids!

Let the kids be kids, and the adults reminisce their time as kids!

After successfully owning the world of animation, Disney in now on a roll to remake all of their most popular Disney animated movies in live-action. And we’re not complaining. With multiple Disney films to look forward to, we’ve listed all the movies coming to you in theaters soon.

Mary Poppins

After 53 years since the original Mary Poppins appeared on screens via an umbrella, Mary Poppins is coming back this December 19, 2018,  to visit the grown-up Banks children in a Disney musical reboot. Which honestly is a relief that it is a sequel rather than a remake, as frankly a re-adaptation will only fall short from the original movie itself.  Directed by Rob Marshall, the film stars Emily Blunt- as Mary Poppins, with Lin-Manuel Miranda, Ben Whishaw, Emily Mortimer, Julie Walters, Dick Van Dyke, Angela Lansbury, Colin Firth, and Meryl Streep. The movie’s fantasy sequences brings the return of Dick van Dyke, from the original Mary Poppins film, and if you were a fan of the the dancing animated penguins, then you’re in luck!

Aladdin is one movie to look forward too next year. The upcoming American musical romantic fantasy film, is set to be a live-action retelling from the 1992 animated film. The movie, expected to come out May 24, 2019 is definitely getting us all hyped! This time around Genie, who was last voiced by the great Robin Williams, will be played by Will Smith. And although it may be different, it would be just as exciting to watch as we could imagine Will doing Genie justice.

The cutest of the elephants, Dumbo is coming out next March 2019. The cartoon movie that came out in 1941, is finally back with a more realistic character and the same adorable-ness. The film stars Colin Farrell, Michael Keaton, Danny DeVito, Eva Green, and Alan Arkin.

Frozen 2

Are we all ready to build a snowman once again? Frozen 2 is slated to hit theatres on November 27, 2019. The Disney sequel is on its way and will feature new characters and intimate moments. Our favourite Kristen Bell (Anna), Josh Gad (Olaf) and Idina Menzel (Elsa) are all in the sequel and Jennifer Lee and Chris Buck are returning as directors. Can’t wait to see what adventures are in store for Elsa, Anna, Kristoff and Olaf!

The Lion King

The Lion King is one movie we’re most excited about. Coming to theaters globally in July 19, 2019, the Disney film is an upcoming American animated musical fantasy adventure film directed by Jon Favreau and produced by Walt Disney Pictures. The photo realistic computer-animated remake of Disney’s traditionally animated 1994 film will feature and all-star line-up from film, TV, music and theatre stars like Donald Glover, Seth Rogen, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Billy Eichner, John Oliver, Keegan-Michael Key, Beyoncé Knowles-Carter and James Earl Jones. So its a big deal to watch the movie! Not to mention the start of the trailer looks absolutely incredible and brings you right back to the original animated  movie.

Penguin a Disney nature movie that will get you going awwww all the way! It is an upcoming 10th Disneynature documentary film, centered around penguin wildlife in Antarctica. The movie which is set to be in theaters in April 19, 2019, is based from real life penguins, shares its quest to find love and life after finding its partner. Disney ties in with the feel of discovery channel meets Disney. It’s THE best combination ever.

Toy Story 4

Woody and Buzz are back and on the hunt for Bo Peep! It’s now scheduled to arrive in cinemas on June 21, 2019. It just wouldn’t be a Toy Story movie without Tom Hanks and Tim Allen as Woody and Buzz Lightyear. They’ll be returning, along with Jessie the Cowgirl, Bo Peep, and many of the other toy friends. As you can see from the teaser trailer, a strange new character named Forky will be introduced. And music fans can rest assured – Pixar favourite Randy Newman is returning for the soundtrack.

While PG-13 may be the goal rating for most of Disney’s subsidiary brands, like Marvel and Star Wars, the House of Mouse still keeps its focus towards giving us the family feel good experience. With this many movies coming out next year, don’t forget to pin it onto your calendar because you definitely wouldn’t want to miss any of it!
