“The Ellen DeGeneres Show” is now under internal investigation by WarnerMedia.
The news comes following multiple complaints of a toxic environment in the work place.
Executives from show producer Telepictures and distributor Warner Bros. Television sent a memo to staffers last week, saying they will interview current and former employees about their experiences on set.
In mid-July, BuzzFeed News published accounts from current and former employees who spoke out anonymously claiming to be subjected to the shows “toxic work environment.”
According to the claims, many were fired after taking medical leave or bereavement days. Some were even were subjected to favouritism by executive producers and faced micro aggressions.
Though Ellen herself was not accused of the alleged misconduct, one person has stated, “I think the executive producers surround her and tell her, ‘Things are going great, everybody’s happy,’ and she just believes that, but it’s her responsibility to go beyond that.”
Ellen has not yet addressed the accusations.
