Tory Lanez – whose real name is Daystar Shemuel Shua Peterson – has been charged with shooting Megan Thee Stallion by the Los Angeles District Attorney’s Office.

news release by the Los Angeles District Attorney’s Office cites that the complaint against the rapper is that he “personally inflicted great bodily injury” and although Stallion is not named – and instead is referred to as ” a female friend” – a series of events (detailed below) practically confirm that it is that he is charged with shooting in the feet. If charged, Lanez could face up to 22 years and eight months in prison. Although Lanez was arrested the night of the altercation, he was released on bail.

And while Stallion has remained mum, Lanez has taken to his Twitter account to respond to the charges being pressed against him.

Staying that time will tell, Lanez reiterated that there is a difference between being charged and being convicted. He does, however, mention Stallion by saying he appreciates those who have supported both him and Stallion.

The altercation itself happened at Hollywood Hills in mid-July, where a video of Stallion limping around an SUV started circulating. Following the incident, Stallion had remained mum over who it was that had hurt her, instead choosing to say that she had “suffered gunshot wounds, as a result of a crime that was committed against me and done with the intention to physically harm me.”

However, in an Instagram Live in August, Stallion came forward to confirm that it was indeed Lanez that had assaulted her. The 25-year-old ‘Savage’ rapper explained that she had exited the SUV after a fight with Lanez, who proceeded to shoot at her, hitting her in both feet. Stallion did not reveal Lanez had shot her on the night of the incident, for fear that he things would escalate with the police, who were present that night. Nevertheless, Lanez’s attempts to spin the media narrative in his favour prompted Stallion to call him out.

“Yes … Tory shot me.  You shot me and you got your publicist and your people going to these blogs lying. Stop lying. Why lie? I don’t understand.”

Following the incident, Stallion had to have surgery, calling the experience “super scary ” and “the worst experience of [her] life.”

Lanez has yet to publicly address the charges, of which include assault with a semiautomatic firearm, personal use of a firearm and carrying a loaded, unregistered firearm in a vehicle, gun allegation and a charge that he personally inflicted great bodily injury. He has, however, released a whole album about the incident as well as what he perceives as the industr y turning his back on him.

The new album titled “Daystar” contains a total of 17 songs – almost all of which relate to the incident with Stallion as well as what happened after. The hour-plus long album is Lanez’s defence against trolls and criticism, frequent jabs at Stallion, a put down for people who make fun of his height, a response to JoJo removing her duet with him from the deluxe version of her album and more. However, the standout lyric from the album?

“How the **** you get shot in your foot, don’t hit no bones or tendons?”

One good to come from the album is that a portion of profits from the album will be donated to organizations supporting women, children and victims of violence as well as the Breonna Taylor Foundation.
