The members of South Korean girl group phenomenon, BLACKPINK, have taken to social media to announce the postponement of their upcoming virtual concert, The Show. The girls explained that the concert would be postponed due to the current regulations that South Korea has set in place to manage the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. The oldest of the group, Jisoo, revealed:

“We can’t wait to meet our BLINKs as soon as possible, but in order to comply with the Korean COVID-19 prevention guidelines and to ensure a safe performance, unfortunately, we have made the decision to postpone THE SHOW from December 27th until January 31st of next year,”

New Zealand-born Rosé added:

“But the most important thing is the health and safety of everyone taking part in THE SHOW. So, in order to make sure that we prepare for the concert in a safe environment, we have decided to postpone THE SHOW.”

Initially set to take place just days after Christmas, ‘The Show’ will now be streamed on January 31, 2021 at 2pm KST (1 p.m. Malaysian time) instead of on December 27. Since wrapping up their first world tour in February, the girls have released their first album ‘The Album’ and have conducted all promotional activities virtually from South Korea.

Silver lining: at least the show will still go one! But – how much will BLINKs have to fork out for tickets to this bound-to-be-amazing event?

Because the event will be streamed exclusively on BLACKPINK’s official YouTube channel, it will require a membership. This membership can be purchased up to one hour before the live stream (for those last-minute, impulse buyers *cough*me*cough). There will be two options for fans:

  1. The Standard: RM120 (grants access to ‘The Show’, rebroadcast perks, and loyalty badges next to your name in the comments and livechat)
  2. The Plus: RM160 (all the above + exclusive behind-the-scenes content)

Initially, it was announced that all content related to ‘The Show’ would be wiped after January 2, 2021, 11:59 p.m. KST (10:59 pm Malaysian time) but with the change in date, it is expected that this will also be changed to a later date.
