3 Malaysian Singers Who Made Us Proud Across International Charts

We’re doing it, guys!

We have invaded international charts, and plenty of times!

From U.S, U.K, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Singapore, and others, these singers have left their mark, bringing fame and recognition to our country.

Check them out below!

1. Dasha Logan

This beautiful singer-songwriter hails from Penang and began her professional singing career at the tender age of 17. Fun fact: If you don’t already know, she is the daughter of Loganathan from the Malaysian band Alleycats, who took over the local charts in the ‘70s.

Her song ‘Cleverly’ took over the number 1 spot on the UK Soul Chart in December 2014!

2. Yuna

Yuna, our Malaysian sweetheart, became a music sensation when she uploaded her music on Myspace and received a whopping number of over one million plays! Born and raised in Kedah and Selangor, this ‘hijabster’ has a total of four international albums under her belt: ‘Yuna’, ‘Nocturnal’, ‘Chapters’ and ‘Rouge’.

Her song ‘Live Your Life’, produced by Pharell Williams himself, debuted at number 23 on the Pop chart and at number 86 on the Top 100 Albums on iTunes!

3. Shila Amzah

Born and raised in Kuala Lumpur, Shila used to go to recording studios with her father, ND Lala, when she was four years old. Her singing career brought her international recognition when she won the first season of the Asian Wave competition in Shanghai. She is also the second runner-up for the second season of “I am a Singer” in China and was nominated for the Nickelodeon Kids Choice Awards for Favourite Asian Act.

May they continue to prosper and take over even more charts worldwide!
