Have you watched the last episode of ‘Behind Her Eyes’ yet? WHAT IS THAT ENDING???
Every once in a while, it’s nice to feel a little shaken up at the end of a series that you’ve been binging on! It’s a nice break from the boring rinse and repeat of the everyday routine. So if you can’t get enough of ‘Behind Her Eyes’, we’ve got you covered! Here are seven shows that will keep your adrenaline pumping and surprise you with unexpected kickers.
An American psychological thriller, ‘You’ follows a mild-mannered Joe Goldberg, played by Penn Badgley of Gossip Girl fame. When he encounters Guinevere Beck, an aspiring writer, he becomes obsessed and…well, a little unhinged. You’ve probably already noticed this, but the fact that the show is titled ‘You’ is a brilliant wordplay! For example, someone asks, “Hey, what are you watching?” and you can answer, “I’m watching…you.” Get it?
‘The Haunting of Hill House’
Loosely based on a novel by critically-acclaimed author Shirley Jackson, The Haunting of Hill House follows the Crain siblings after a tragedy that claimed their mother’s life. The show switches back and forth between the past and present, in a way that is both gripping and suspenseful. It also features a horrifying 20-minute one-shot take, as the family navigates a house full of ghosts in the middle of a storm. Stay tuned for episode five. The twist will knock your socks off.
In a nutshell, ‘Black Mirror’ is a modern version of ‘The Twilight Zone’. It takes you through various creepy, bone-chilling episodes of how situations can be warped by technology in ways you could never imagine. A British dystopian science fiction anthology, the TV show is created by Charlie Brooker. The success of the show has created multiple spin-off media such as a series of Webisodes, a game board, books, and even a walkthrough maze set to open in the second quarter of 2021.
For this one, you’re going to need to put on your thinking cap. We’re not kidding!
Dark is a German science fiction thriller that follows the connections between four families, spanning over multiple generations. Together, they work together to unravel a time-travel conspiracy and face the consequences because everyone knows that you don’t mess with time travel. The casting direction is mindblowing as the actors/actresses who portray a character as a child, adult and elder all look eerily alike, making it believable that we are watching the said character move back and forth through time in different decades!
Be warned that this show contains a lot of gore. And when we say a lot, we mean a lot.
The suave titular character is played by Mads Mikkelsen (who, btw, is set to play Grindelwald in ‘Fantastic Beasts 3‘), as he feeds his nasty…eating habits, with effortless style and grace. All the while, he keeps a close friendship with Hugh Dancy’s Will Graham, a criminal profiler who hunts down serial killers. Little does he know, his good friend Hannibal is one of the cannibals he is seeking to put behind bars. You’ve got to see it to believe it.
