Watch it again to pick up the clues!

You know the moment something happens in your favourite TV show, and you scream and “BUT I DID NOT SEE THIS COMING!” and you curse the showrunners for not giving you a warning so you can emotionally prepare yourself. Well…what if they did? Check out these top 3 insanely clever, minute moments in shows that foreshadowed some huge changes in your fave shows!

1. Game of Thrones

In an episode called “The Mountain and the Viper” from season 4, Littlefinger, played by Aidan Gillen, tells Robin:

“People die at their dinner tables. They die in their beds. They die squatting over their chamber pots. Everybody dies sooner or later. And don’t worry about your death. Worry about your life. Take charge of your life for as long as it lasts.”

And throughout that same season, we see several characters die exactly the way Littlefinger prophesied. King Joffrey Baratheon, played by Jack Gleeson, dies at a dinner table.  And then Tyrion Lannister, played by Peter Dinklage, strangles his ex in bed before ending the life of Tywin (played by Charles Dance) while he’s sitting on a toilet.

*shudders*

2. American Horror Story: Coven

The ‘American Horror Story’ anthology is full of Easter eggs and foreshadowing, and if you’re a huuuuge fan, you would be one of the people who stick pins with red threads into maps to examine the connection between the characters and the series.  Yes, the show is that clever. Case in point: the opening credits of Season 3. The third season follows a coven of witches, and when the current leader is weakened by cancer, she believes that a new witch will rise as the new Supreme to take her place. In the opening credits of every episode, Sarah Paulson’s title card appears with the Mexican female deity Santa Muerte, the Lady of the Seven Wonders (a ritual that you need to survive in order to become the new Supreme).

At the end of the season, Paulson’s character Cordelia took over the mantle of the new Supreme!

3. How I Met Your Mother

The 13th episode of season 6 is titled, ‘Bad News.’  In this episode, Marshall (played Jason Segel) and Lily (played by Alyson Hannigan) are eager to know if they can have children.  Most people assumed that the title of the episode foreshadows their test results, but the twist at the end is that while Marshall and Lily find out that they can in fact have children, the bad news comes in the form of Marshall’s father passing away from a heart attack.

It makes me wonder though: are there any moments in our lives that have already been foreshadowed, but we just didn’t see them?
