MCO has been extended to it’s third phase, and parents are you okay? Parents have been living with their kids 24/7 since MCO was implemented and they’ve come up with many ways to entertain their kids but some are at wits end with your children!
In this episode of #TerkiniwithNandini Fly’s AM Mayhem and Nandini discuss ways to entertain your kids At Home During MCO.
Nandini and Fly’s AM Mayhem debate to see which ways are better in dealing with their kids as some parents are struggling in entertaining their young kids.
” It’s not easy man, kids are super energetic they can run around and they need that energy to be used up!” – Hafiz
“One of my workers is married and she has two kids and they are 5 and 2, super young! And I’ve been seeing her insta stories and I love what she’s doing. She has like a cute little garden and gardening is one of the many activities she gets her kids to do. And at the end, in a few weeks, she makes food with her produce. So the kids feel like oh I planted this, I made that and now I get to use that.
And she has cute little baking sessions with her kids, they get to cook, get to help her. The coolest things ever is she has a merit system! So she has like fake monopoly money and every time they do something right they can redeem treats!” – Nandini
Parents you finally have all the time in the world to find and figure out what your kids like to do for fun. It could be playing board games or even masak-masak. Encourage the little ones to explore things, together with you!
” I did notice that since MCO my daughter has been into board games now! I’ve introduced her to Chess and Monopoly. I think it’s great that I get to introduce her to the games that I played when I was younger.” – Hafiz
Parents can also use this time to educate their kids on the pandemic and the fight against COVID-19 as well as explaining the importance of social distancing and why the MCO was implemented. It’s crucial for parents to educate their young kids especially the importance of cleanliness, how and why they should wash their hands regularly as well.
” One of my high school friends, so she was updating their day by day, how’s it like living with the kids now 24/7 and she’s realised that the kids don’t understand why they can’t go out and play and visit their grandparents. So she’s found a way to educate them about COVID-19 and also have a way to interact with the grandparents.
What she does is that, she gets like a piece of paper and she makes them draw out their hand and they start painting it and they get two of those and attached strings together and its like hugs. And they post it to their grandparents. And on it they write facts about COVID-19 to educate their grandparents and the kids themselves. S they know whats going on at the outside world.” – RD

In conclusion, parents take the time to get to know your children! Also don’t forget to contribute and ease the burden of the frontliners by #stayathome but if you have funds to spare please don’t forget the less fortunate #kitajagakita.
