Japanese village creates amazing paddy field art using different strains of rice

Rice is food, and also sometimes art. Really beautiful art.

In the Japanese village of Inakadate, the inhabitants practice an annual tradition that transforms the simple task of growing rice into an elaborate art form. By carefully sowing and growing different strains of rice, the village’s paddy fields begin to display beautiful illustrations once the crops grow out.
